  So Many Choices ...
The outdoor industry of today provides nearly endless choices. One has to do their homework before throwing down their hard earned cash!

I'm pretty happy with my choices...they work for me!
I will probably be looking for a lighter shelter someday but for now the S.D. Orion works great.

If you are looking for new gear...
Talk to folks who have actually used the product in the field. Compare products at your local retailer and online. Good Luck!

Be Careful...
This gear thing can be quite addicting! If you buy all the latest greatest new techno gizmos your pack will get heavier and heavier :)

One of the nicest little gadgets to come along is the new LED headlamps, I love them!
Hands free operation when setting up camp after the sun has set. Long battery life and no bulb to replace. All that for just a couple of ounces...cool!

Bear Canisters Have Become A Necessary Evil In The Sierra
I recently bit the bullet and paid the big $$$ for a Bearikade Weekender (1.8 LBS) which is the lightest bear can I could find.

Several wilderness areas in California are now requiring them and it's only a matter of time before they all do. But If you're gong to Yosemite, Sequoia/Kings or the Whitney Zone you'll need one.

I have grown to appreciate the simplicity of the bear can though...put everthing in it and stow it 100 or so feet from camp and sleep well. No middle of the night rock throwing parties ;)
